While Custom BioGenic Systems is known for cryogenic solutions, it’s always fun to explore the “gadgets and gizmos” and “thingamabobs” out there. We’re sure you’ve all heard the rumors about Walt Disney’s body being frozen! Rumor has it that Disney was frozen after death so he could one day return in the future – but is it true?
Throughout his career, Walt Disney was fascinated by all things futuristic including technology and cryonics. He even started projects like the EPCOT Center (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) and invested in innovation, so it’s no surprise he had an interest in life after death.
Walt Disney died on December 15th, 1966 as a result of complications with lung cancer. News of his passing came days after his private funeral. The secrecy around his death and burial spurred rumors that he went through with freezing his body in hopes of future technology being advanced enough to revive him.
Despite the rumors of being frozen alive, Walt Disney was cremated and buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California, not in a frozen state under the park rides of Disneyland in Anaheim. Rather than remaining in frozen suspension, Disney’s classic movies and amusement parks are what keeps his legacy alive.
